In a 24 October interview with The American Bazaar, 17-year-old Kairav Mittal describes teaching free yoga through Project Root in Crewe, Virginia. His connection to the town grew through summer work and a town-hall internship. Breathing is central to his approach, alongside movement.

Starting with local relationships

Mittal says attendance grew as neighbours told one another about the classes. He also describes plans for children’s sessions with the Nottoway County Library System and a free digital breathing resource, RootBreath. The next steps build on an existing local relationship: bringing practice to people where they already live and gather.
