Venice Yoga Festival’s Saturday programme brought together yoga, music, art and dance at Muscle Beach in Los Angeles. The organiser advertised the 24 October event, running from noon until sunset, as free and family friendly. Its programme also included workshops, conversations and local vendors.

A practice in a shared public setting

World Yoga Federation, Yoga Nest Venice and Los Angeles Recreation and Parks were named as presenters. The organisers framed the festival as part of a wider effort to support the recreation centre and boardwalk community. That is their stated aim, rather than a measured outcome. The setting offers a useful perspective on yoga outside a dedicated studio: practice sharing public space with other forms of neighbourhood culture.
