A yoga festival finds a new home in a monastery

Würzburg’s November gathering pairs a smaller setting with an explicit conversation between traditions.

The thirteenth Yogafestival Würzburg is scheduled for 6 to 8 November at Kloster Oberzell in Zell am Main. The organisers’ current programme confirms the move from the grounds of the Würzburg Residenz and lists 24 workshops with 19 teachers. A 30 October Main-Post report also describes the new setting.

Sharing a place without erasing its differences

Organisers Lydia and Martin Lange present the monastery as a place for dialogue between yoga and Christian monastic tradition. They describe shared values while keeping differences in view. The programme combines practice, meditation, concerts and kirtan, with attendance limited to 144.

A dedicated children’s programme is another change this year, with scheduled activities intended to let parents attend workshops. It is a practical detail alongside the larger cultural question: how can a gathering enter an established sacred setting with care? This is an announced programme, not a report of an event already held. The venue and timetable can create conditions for exchange; they cannot guarantee it.
